How to use a peptide research guide
- Define the research question and model before selecting material.
- Check identity, batch and analytical documentation independently.
- Write the protocol, controls, acceptance criteria and analysis plan before collecting results.
- Record receipt, storage, preparation and deviations.
- Interpret results within the limits of the method and report null findings as carefully as positive findings.

Evidence hierarchy for laboratory decisions
Start with the method and the primary data. A product description may identify the supplied material, but it cannot replace a batch record or method report. A review article can summarise a field, but it should not be used as though it were the original experiment. When a claim matters to study design, trace it back to the full paper, inspect the model, controls, sample size and statistical treatment, and note whether the finding has been independently reproduced.
Analytical results must be read within their scope. Chromatography can show how a sample separated under defined conditions. Mass spectrometry can contribute evidence about mass and identity. Neither test automatically demonstrates biological effect in a chosen model. The receiving laboratory remains responsible for deciding what identity, purity, sterility, endotoxin or other testing is relevant to its work.
Version control and corrections
Scientific guidance changes when methods improve or new evidence appears. Record the page access date when a guide informs a protocol, and preserve the cited source with the study file. If a source conflicts with a guide, prioritise the validated method, applicable regulation and primary evidence.
