What is a peptide reconstitution calculator?

A peptide reconstitution calculator works out the concentration of a lyophilised (freeze-dried) research peptide after adding a chosen volume of bacteriostatic water, and how much solution corresponds to a target research amount. It removes manual arithmetic errors when preparing solutions in the laboratory.

How do I use the peptide calculator?

Enter the milligrams of peptide in your vial, the millilitres of bacteriostatic water you are adding, and your target draw amount in micrograms. The calculator returns the concentration in mg/ml and mcg/ml, the volume to draw, and the equivalent units on a U-100 insulin syringe, with full step-by-step working shown.

What does mg/ml mean?

mg/ml is milligrams of peptide per millilitre of solution. It is the standard way to express concentration after reconstitution. Multiplying mg/ml by 1000 gives the concentration in micrograms per millilitre (mcg/ml), which is often more convenient for small research amounts.

Which diluent should I use to reconstitute a peptide?

Bacteriostatic water is the diluent most commonly referenced in research protocols for reconstituting lyophilised peptides, because the added benzyl alcohol helps limit microbial growth in multi-use vials. See our Bacteriostatic Water guide for handling and storage information.

Peptide Calculator formula and verification

This peptide calculator applies dimensional arithmetic to the values entered in the browser. Concentration is calculated as material amount divided by total volume; a target-volume calculation rearranges that relationship. Results are mathematical outputs, not instructions for human or veterinary administration.

Always confirm the unit attached to every value and independently reproduce the calculation in the laboratory record. The BIPM SI Brochure is the authoritative international reference for SI units. Worked reconstitution example

Example only: if a 10mg research vial is combined with 2mL of diluent, the concentration is 5mg/mL. A 0.1mL measured volume therefore contains 0.5mg. Always confirm vial strength, diluent volume and unit conversion before recording a calculation.
